Sing when you're winning!

Upon my return to the office after three days long weekend in Paris, I bumped on my work mates excited to tell me that I won Grand National ! (I believe that behind this excitement there was a hidden hope that I'll promise to buy everyone a beer after work!)
After couple of minutes I reminded myself drawing a weird name of a horse on Friday morning as my office and whole country was in a craze of horse betting. Who could think than that my Numbersixalverde will win?!

Anyways I won 40 quid and it's an awesome feeling! I know it's only my beginners luck, but it's still awesome to make some extra cash! And of course put me in a fantastic mood at the very start of the day :)

Who said that food doesn't make you happy???

Had fantastic day yesterday! Why? Because I was shopping… Grocery shopping… Somebody could start wonder whether I’m loosing it, but this was POLISH grocery shopping!

We all love our mum’s food, our traditional dishes and we dearly miss it when not living in our countries (and raise a hand a Nomader here who doesn’t agree with that!!!). Same here. I’ll never forget the wonderful feeling of smelling and looking at Polish food when after 18 months of homey food fasting in New Zealand, my auntie took me to a Polish shop in Sydney! Oh, it was a treat!

London of course is a different story with tons of my country mates living here and having the same desire for Polish herrings, pickled cucumbers and mushrooms and mouth-watering sausages and all other good stuff. There are plenty of Polish shops (called here mainly Polish delicatessen) and even Indians running corner shops picked up the business and sell Polish juices and gherkins between their chutneys and masalas. Still Polish-run places have the best variety of all food and all sort of Polish newspapers, so it’s best to shop there.

Unfortunately they are mainly based in West London (and I mean very West London:)) so I don’t have much opportunity to shop there. But as Easter comes and this year I’m spending it in London, I decided to get some supplies! I still haven’t bought everything as I didn’t have enough hands to carry it back home, but next time I’ll be smarter – I found an online shop which actually delivers home, so it will make it much easier in the future :)

P.S. I must admit here that I also sometimes pop in to New Zealand shop in Covent Garden to buy some L&P (if I’m lucky!) and Whittaker’s slabs!
